world cup-Spain go out of World Cup and Chile fans invade Maracanã – in pictures

The streets outside the stadium are awash with Chile fans before the match
It's like one big street party out there as fans enjoy themselves before kick-off
Though there are a smattering of Spain fans outside the stadium enjoying themselves too

Some people who aren't enjoying themselves are the security team at the Maracanã as hundreds of ticketless Chile fans have run amok, steaming through the media centre in an attempt to get into the ground and watch the match
A number of them are caught but some make it through the media centre and into the stands
Security manage to collar some of the interlopers and detain them
Lockers and a wall are pushed over as Chile fans stormed the media centre
They're enjoying themselves
Alexis goes past Xavi Alonso as Chile go at Spain from the kick-off
Cesar Azpilicueta gets his head to the ball ahead of Eduardo Vargas as Spain try and deal with Chile's start
Alonso gives away possession near halfway. Sanchez pounces and switches the ball inside. Vidal – I think – sends a quite glorious pass in to Aranguiz inside the box. He has the awareness to square the ball to Vargas, who cuts back inside and slams home
Down at the other end Gary Medel celebrates with goalkeeper Claudio Bravo
Things go from bad to worse for the reigning champions when Casillas fists away Sanchez's near-post free-kick. He should catch it. Or turn it round the post. Instead his gentle punch drops to Aranguiz, who toe-pokes it back and it flies into the net
And then he's mobbed by his team-mates
What were you thinking Iker? Half-time score: Spain 0-2 Chile
Early in the second half Koke zips a pass through to Diego Costa, but unfortunately the Chilean defence is equal to it and the ball deflects out for a corner
Five minutes later from Bravo's punch out Costa does well to acrobatically send the ball back across goal where it falls to Busquets. He taps wide from about five yards with the goal at his mercy
The packed stadium is really rocking as the Chile fans revel in their team's lead
Fernando Torres is brought on to replace Diego Costa
However Torres is proving to have as much luck breaking through the Chilean defence as Diego Costa did
The final whistle goes and Chile are through to the next round and Spain, the defending champions are out!
During injury time Sergio Ramos fires over with a scissor kick
The Chile players celebrate arguably the most important win in their history
The celebrations are in stark contrast to the dejected faces of Andres Iniesta, Javi Martinez, Cesar Azpilicueta and the rest of the Spanish players. Final score: Spain 0-2 Chile
